How do you know if you have termites?
Although it is difficult to detect them, there are some signs that can give you clues:
Winged termites
They are similar to flying ants but you will easily differentiate them by the shape of their body and by their two pairs of wings of the same length.
If you see a specimen of this type, it means that you have a termite nest or that they are considering creating one in your home.
Progression channels
Termites are very sensitive to light. That is why they build this kind of “mud tunnels” to be able to move around the outside to a new wooden focus.
Hollow wood sound
Termites devastate the inside of wooden structures, leaving only a thin layer of wood to protect them from light.
If when you touch a wooden frame, skirting board or beam, it sounds hollow… Start worrying.

It depends on the type of termite that is attacking you.
As we have already mentioned, we find 2 large groups: underground and dry wood.
Depending on which one it is, we will proceed in different ways:
SUBTERRANEAN TERMITE (CROSSLINKERS)
The subterranean termite lives in the subsoil of the house, so it will be useless to remove the damaged wood or treat it directly.
This malpractice will only eliminate a few specimens and will amplify the problem by encouraging the colony to explore other areas of the house in search of new food.
The only treatment 100% guaranteed to totally eliminate the colony is based on bait systems.
Although not all baits are equally effective or fast.

DRYWOOD TERMITE (KALOTERMES)
Drywood termites live in the affected wood itself.
Therefore, the treatment in the case of species of the genus Kalotermes will be totally different from that used with underground species.
Hence the importance of correctly identifying which type of termite is producing the attack.
In this case, we will treat the affected areas locally by microinjection or projection of a specific biocide.
